I think that people who work in the IT industry need to keep improving their skills all the time. As a network engineer, blogs and podcasts have helped me improve my skills just as much as formal training courses.

Here is a list of my favourite Networking podcasts  that I listen to. Most of them are about networking, but some are about bisseness , tech, cloud, currencies , etc.

Before going any further into the topic of networking podcasts, let’s have a look at what a podcast actually means and how it works.

What Is a PodcastF

A podcast is the streaming era’s counterpart to the radio show. An audio file that can be downloaded or streamed via the Internet, according to the dictionary definition of a podcast.

Podcasts are a type of media material that was created in 2004 by former MTV video jockey Adam Curry and software developer Dave Winer when they designed the “iPodder.” The iPodder was a software application that allowed users to download internet radio broadcasts on their Apple iPod. This is where the phrase and definition podcast were developed, with the name derived from a combination of ‘iPod’ and ‘broadcasts.’

Today, podcasts are an extremely popular type of audio entertainment, and they’ve gone well beyond just downloaded radio episodes. Subscribers can download and listen to each new episode of a podcast as soon as it is published online and can be downloaded as a series by the program’s host.

How to Listen to Podcasts and how it works

Creating and broadcasting a podcast is a simple process for podcasters. After they’ve recorded and edited a few episodes, they’ll need to publish them to their preferred podcast host.

Podcasters transmit their RSS feed to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or Stitcher. Using a podcast directory, users may search, subscribe to, and listen to podcasts.

Choosing a podcast directory is the first step in listening to podcasts. There are a plethora of choices, however the following are some of the most popular:

  • Google Podcasts
  • Stitcher
  • Spotify
  • Podcast Addict
  • Overcast
  • Apple Podcasts

To get started, go to the Apple App Store or Google Play and download the app. Use the app’s search option to find shows that interest you. To keep up with the latest episodes of your favourite shows, either download them or subscribe to them so that they are automatically added to your playlist each time they are released.

At this point, you’re prepared to pay attention! What show are you going to watch first?
